Factory Reset for Acer Iconia A-100 Tab/Tablet
I’ve checked through internet, and found, that many users had problems with ACER A100, specifically with Factory-Reset (a.k.a. Hard-Reset):
Problems/symptoms while trying to do hard-reset:
- Touchscreen doesnt work
- POWER button doesnt work to select the “FACTORY RESET”
- Errors show up while hard-resetting:
E:/dev/block/mmcblk1 does not exist
Finding update package...
E:failed to mount /mnt/sdcard (No such file or directory)
E:Can't mount /mnt/sdcard/update.zip
The solution seemed to be a single careful execution of the instruction. The problem is that very often, people oppositely click VOL+ button (instead of Vol –). Note, that this simple problem arise because Acer Iconia has placed them reversely: The first one is VOL- and second one is VOL+ ).
You may ask “why”? Answer is if you rotate the device, then order seems to have the correct order:
So, now you have to read the correct instructions (maybe you have already read them.. )

You should download “SD_Acer_A100_1.XXXXX_COM_GEN1_full_user.zip” from http://vache-android.com/?dir=Tablets/A100 (or other trusted sites).
Just, instead of XX rename to your hardware version’s corresponding software version, i.e. 014.08 . You can google for correct version name for your hardware) and rename to “update.zip“, and continue resetting according to the official manuals.
