It’s extremely useful to view your site with temporary link/address, and thus you can ensure, that till you migrate your site, everything is fine with current files at DH.

If you havent yet decided to switch to DreamHost
At first, DreamHost seemed quite excellent to my needs, because it gives us an ability to separate sites/ftp home directories (which is the most essential part of security! Read our article – Why you MUST separate your domains) and it was a good thing, but my personal experience was not as good as expected, with regard to performance – my WordPress sites needed to load endless till the pages were loaded. It was not a problem of my plugins or codes. After moving my sites to another hosting (I have moved to and I am very satisfied with Active24 shared hosting till date), then my sites loaded in seconds. So, before you decide to finally switch to DreamHost.com hosting, I think you can look through our article Hosting Companies Comparison, where you will see the essential technical details about different hosting companies.
